On the way to the station, in Milsons Point, there was a Celtic festival, with art, some food, etc.
We went to Hyde Park, where there was an Australia Day in the Park, with food and performances. And a vintage motor show. I love vintage cars. I never saw so many together though, there were masses. In the end that's were we spend the rest of the afternoon.
We finished the day with a pizza. I had an Australian pizza (egg, bacon, onion) of course.
We were expecting some fireworks in the harbour, but not as such. There was at about 9:20pm a fighterjet flyby with its afterburners on, which is quite impressive, and scary. A different fireworks to end the day.
What was your Australia Day like?
At about 11am the Ferrython, a ferry race, started of near the Opera. They first raced towards Manly, to return 30 minutes later to finish under the bridge. In their wake a lot of boats, big and small, quite a spectacular. I wonder if no accidents happened with all these boats on the water.
After the Ferrython, there was a boat parade, with tall ships and all. At 12, there were 21 salute shots, as an RAF helicopter and jetfighter flew over.
We sticked around by the water as we knew a Google plane would fly over, taking hi-res pictures of Sydney. At about 1:15pm it did.
Later on, there was also a tall ship race, with their sales lifted, which me missed, as we went into the city.
